The Department of Education, an integral part of the Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education (DD & CE), Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, was created in August 2008

Duration
- The duration of the Course is 2 years; a student has to complete his/her program within 4 years; there is no provision for re-admission in this program
Eligibility Criteria
- As per the NCTE norms, candidates having graduation / Post -graduation with 55% marks are eligible. There shall be relaxation of 5% marks in favour of SC/ST/OBC and other categories of candidates
- Educational Qualification: In service teachers who have passed the undergraduate degree in the following subjects can apply for B.Ed through distance mode
- Tamil, English, Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/ Physics/ Geo-physics /Bio-Physics/ Applied Physics/ Electronics/ Chemistry/ Applied Chemistry/ Bio-Chemistry/Botany, Environmental Science/Bio-Technology/Plant Biology/Zoology/ Micro-biology/History/Geography/ Applied Geography/ Computer Science/ Computer Applications, Information Technology
- Candidates with other subjects are not eligible; or a Post-Graduate degree in Economics/Commerce/Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic and Indian Culture
- Teaching experience at least 2 years of teaching experience serving in Schools in Tamil Nadu (Nursery /Primary / Secondary / Higher Secondary/ Matriculation Schools) recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu / Govt. of India alone are eligible to apply
- The candidates should have undergone 10+2+3(15) or 11+1+ 3 pattern of study and passed the qualifying exam conducted by the respective State Board or CBSE or any other recognized Board of examination/ and UG Degree exam of the UGC recognized universities in any one of the school subjects offered by Directorate of School Education at the Secondary / Higher Secondary Education level
- However, candidates not qualified in XII exam or PUC but possessing two years bachelor Preparatory Program Certificate /Two Years Diploma Course conducted by state Govt. / recognized Universities and qualified with three years UG Degree course are also considered eligible
The candidates who are not eligible:
- Candidates who have passed the UG (or) PG Degree OUS without qualifying in 11 years SSLC exam or 1 year of PUC exam or; 10+ pattern of school education shall not be considered for admission
- Candidates having a direct UG Degree (without+2 qualification) /direct post-graduate degree without UG Degree are not eligible for admission
- Candidates who have passed Under Double Degree/Additional Degree program with less than 3 years duration are not eligible
Selection Process
- Selection will be made on the basis of the performance in the entrance exam and by following the Govt Norms
- Medium of Instruction: The medium of instruction is English
- Entrance Test: Admission will be done based on the score obtained by the candidate in the entrance examination conducted by the M.S.U only
Reservation
- Reservation of seats will be made as per the rules and regulations of Govt of Tamil Nadu

- The filled in application form should be submitted to “The Director, Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Abishekapatti, Tirunelveli-627012”
