IIT Guwahati PhD Admission 2024: Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to PhD Programmes in the Dept. of Chemistry and Dept. of Physics under special scheme for UGC/CSIR-JRF (March 2024). Applications are to be submitted online through Application Portal. Selected candidates will be admitted under Regular Category for availing UGC/CSIR Fellowship. These candidates will not be considered for converting to Institute Assistantship at any point of time
About IIT Guwahati
Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the sixth member of the IIT fraternity, was established in 1994. The academic programme of IIT Guwahati commenced in 1995. At present the Institute has eleven departments, seven inter-disciplinary academic centres and five schools covering all the major engineering , science, healthcare, management and humanities disciplines, offering B.Tech., B.Des., M.A., M.Des., M.Tech., M.Sc., MBA and Ph.D. programmes. - Selected candidates will be admitted under Regular Category for availing UGC/CSIR Fellowship.
- These candidates will not be considered for converting to Institute Assistantship at any point of time.

Application Process
- Eligible candidates can apply online only through the official website https://www.iitg.ac.in
- Applications are to be submitted online. Under the same login, you have the option to apply to multiple departments/centers
- However, for each department/centre you need to pay the application fee separately.

Mode and Schedule of Selections
Mode of Selection
- Online Interviews through video conferencing using MS Teams, G-Meet, etc., as per the convenience. For the selection process, the candidates need not come to the campus.
- The schedule of the selection process is given in the following table. The candidates have to follow updates from time to time and make necessary arrangements in that regard.

Selection Process
- Applications of the candidates which are complete in all respects will be considered in the selection process.
- Institute reserves the right to consider a limited number of candidates for the selection process. Such shortlisting will be based on the performance in UGC/CSIR NET, grades/marks in the qualifying degree examination and/or other educational qualifications starting from Class 10.
- For PhD Programme, the shortlisting and selection may be done specialization wise by the respective department.
- The selection process involves the performance of candidates in the online interviews conducted in various stages as decided by the respective department
- Applicants have to visit this website and websites of respective departments regularly for information regarding shortlisting and selection of candidates. No personalized information can be expected in this regard. IIT Guwahati will not be responsible for delayed response from the applicants.
