Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies Admission 2024 – Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies conducts Entrance Examination for Admission to various academic programmes viz. P.M., U.M., Shastri, B.Ed., B.A.B.Ed & Acharya for the academic session 2024-25
Important Dates

- Entrance Exam Date : 23rd June 2024 (09.00 am to 12.00 noon & 02.00 pm to 05.00 pm)

Eligibility Criteria
- Purva Madhayama Baudh Darshan (Buddhist Philosophy) : Candidates who have successfully completed or appearing in class VIII examination from a recognized institution, with or without Tibetan Language as a subject, but possess proficiency in Tibetan Language equivalent to standard VIII, are eligible to take the entrance test. In addition, proficiency in either English or Hindi equivalent to standard VIII is also required.
- Uttar Madhayama Traditional Fine Arts : Candidates who have passed or appearing in class X examination from a recognized institution with Tibetan Language or without Tibetan Language as a subject but possess knowledge of Tibetan Language equivalent to class X will be eligible to appear in the entrance test. Besides, knowledge of either English or Hindi equivalent to class X is also required.
- Uttar Madhayama Bhot Jyotish : Candidates who have successfully completed or appearing in class X examination from a recognized institution, with or without Tibetan Language as a subject, but possess proficiency in Tibetan Language equivalent to class X, are eligible to take the entrance test. Additionally, proficiency in either English or Hindi equivalent to class X is also necessary.
- B.Ed. :The admission shall be open to students who have graduated with a minimum 50% marks in any discipline viz. Shastri or equivalent from a University recognized by the Government of India/U.G.C. Final year (appearing) students may also apply; subjected to fulfilment of eligibility at the time of counselling.
- The applicant must possess the class X certificate with the Tibetan language as a subject.
- 4-year integrated B.A. B.Ed. : The admission to 4-year integrated B.A. B.Ed. Programme shall be open to a student who has passed or appearing in the 10+2 level or who has the certificate of Uttar Madhayama or equivalent from a school/university recognized by the Government of India
- The applicant must possess the class X certificate with the Tibetan language as a subject.
- Shastri Baudh Darshan (Buddhist Philosophy) : The admission to the Shastri Baudh Darshan (Buddhist Philosophy) programme shall be open to a student who has passed or
- appearing at 10+21evel with Tibetan Language or
- who has the certificate of Uttar Madhayama with Tibetan Language or equivalent from a recognized school/university/Institute with Tibetan Language.
- Shastri Bon Darshan (Bon Philosophy) : The admission to Shastri in Bon Darshan (Bon Philosophy) programme shall be open to a student who has passed or appearing at 10+2 level with Tibetan Language. or
- who has the certificate of Uttar Madhayama with Tibetan Language or equivalent from a recognized school/university/Institute with Tibetan Language.
- Shastri Bhot Jyotish : The admission to the Shastri Bhot Jyotish programme shall be open to a student who has passed or appearing at 10+2 level with Tibetan Language Or
- Who has the certificate of Uttar Madhayama with Tibetan Language or equivalent from a recognized school/university /Institute with Tibetan Language.
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) : The admission to the B.F.A. programme shall be open to a student who has passed or appearing at 10+2 level with Tibetan Language OR
- Who has the certificate of Uttar Madhayama with Tibetan Language or equivalent from a recognized school/university/Institute with Tibetan Language.
- Acharya Baudh Darshan (Buddhist Philosophy) : The admission to the Acharya Baudh Darshan (Buddhist Philosophy) programme shall be open to a student who has passed or appearing in Shastri in Buddhist Philosophy with Tibetan Language Or
- Shastri (B.A.) with Tibetan Language or equivalent from a recognized
- University / Institute with Tibetan Language.
- Acharya Bon Darshan (Bon Philosophy) : The admission to Acharya in the Bon Darshan (Bon Philosophy) programme shall be open to a student who has passed or appearing in Shastri in Bon Philosophy with Tibetan Language OR
- Shastri (B.A.) with Tibetan Language or equivalent from a recognized
- University/Institute with Tibetan Language.
- Acharya Tibetan Language & Literature : The admission to Acharya Tibetan Language & Literature programme shall be open to a student who has passed or appearing in Shastri in Buddhist Philosophy with Tibetan Language or
- Shastri (B.A.) with Tibetan Language /B.A. B.Ed. 4th Year programme with Tibetan Language or equivalent from a recognized University/Institute with Tibetan Language.
- Acharya Tibetan History & Culture : The admission to Acharya in Tibetan History & Culture programme shall be open to a student who has passed or appearing in Shastri in Buddhist Philosophy with Tibetan History Or
- Shastri (B.A.) with Tibetan Language or
- B.A. B.Ed. 4th Year programme with Tibetan Language or equivalent from a recognized University/Institute with Tibetan Language.
- Acharya Bhot Jyotish : The admission to Acharya in the Bhot Jyotish programme shall be open to a student who has passed or appearing in Shastri in Bhot Jyotish with Tibetan Language or equivalent from a recognized University/Institute with Tibetan Language.
- Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) : The admission to the M.F.A. programme shall be open to a student who has passed or appearing in B.F.A. in Thanka Painting / Wood Craft with Tibetan Language or equivalent from a recognized University/ Institute with Tibetan Language.

- Interested candidates seeking admission to these programmes can apply for the admission through the application form available on Institute’s website-www.cihts.ac.in Freeship/Scholarship to the deserving students is available as per Institute norms.
- The filled-in forms along with the self-attested photocopies of all relevant documents, as mentioned in the application form, should be sent either by registered post/speed post/ Courier or email on or before 10th June 2024 by 05.00 PM, to the following address. Incomplete application forms received after the last date will not be entertained.

Admission Process
- Admission will be granted to successful candidates based on merit marks obtained in the entrance examination. Candidate are required to score 25% of marks in each paper, and overall 40% marks in all the papers to qualify for being called for the counselling.

Purva Madhayama Baudh Darshan (Buddhist Philosophy)
- There will be two papers –
- Tibetan Language (100 marks)
- Hindi or English (100 marks).
- The level of paper shall be equivalent to class VIII.
Uttar Madhayama Traditional Fine Arts
- There will be three papers –
- Tibetan Language (100 marks)
- English or Hindi (50 marks)
- General Knowledge (50 marks)
- The level of paper shall be equivalent to class
Uttar Madhayama Bhot Jyotish
- There will be three papers –

B.Ed.

- The level of paper for both languages shall be class X

- Entrance Examination will be held at the following Centers – (1) CIHTS, Sarnath, Varanasi (2) Dehradun (3) Darjeeling (4) Shimla (5) Bylakuppe, Mysore (6) Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh and (7) Kathmandu, Nepal. Candidates may fill up their choice accordingly.
