The Full form of FICCI is Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. FICCI is an association of business organisations in India. It is the largest and oldest apex business organisation and it has closely witnessed the country’s struggle for independence, the rapidly growing economy, and its industrialization. FICCI was established by G.D Birla and Purushottam Das Thakurdas in 1927 on the recommendation of M.K. Gandhi. FICCI has its headquarters in New Delhi, India. Mr. Sandip Somany is the President and Uday Shankar is the Sr. Vice President of FICCI as of August 2019.

It is a not-for-profit and non-government organisation. FICCI’s membership is open to the corporate sector, both public and private, including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Multi-National Corporations (MNCs). The chamber has an indirect membership of over 2.5 lakh companies from various regional chambers of commerce. FICCI is a great support to businesses and industries in India. It coordinates with civil society and policymakers and articulates the issues and views of industry.

It also supports and funds various governmental and non-governmental education institutes in India. FICCI promotes scientific research and conducts economic research for the development of commerce and industry. It also organizes conferences, conducts workshops and seminars on important matters related to the business community.
