The Full form of SAS is Statistical Analysis Software. SAS is an integrated system of software products for multivariate analysis, advanced analysis, data management, business intelligence, and predictive analytics developed by SAS Inc. The SAS started to develop in the year 1966 and continued till 1976 when SAS Institute was incorporated by James Goodnight, Anthony Barr, Jane T. Helwig, and John Sall. In the 1980s and 1990s, with the addition of additional components, new statistical procedures, and the introduction of JMP, SAS became more advanced.
It allows programmers to perform a wide range of tasks such as; retrieving information and data management, operation research and project management, Statistical analysis, data management and data mining, business planning, monitoring, forecasting, and decision support, quality improvement and application development, remote computing and platform independent, and more. Statistical Analysis Software is considered as a powerful tool as it can read, understand, and can also access any type of data from any type of software and format.
A user can perform logical operations in SAS by using if-then statement. A person can run any statement in SAS step by step, in a loop, and the program is executed very quickly. In other formats, the ODS procedure is performed to take the output, such as RTF, HTML, Excel, etc.
