Teacher Eligibility Test – TET Entrance Exam
TET is well-known as an Indian entrance exam for teachers.
TET Entrance Exam directed in two parts which is called Exam 1 and Exam 2 and it is prepared by both Central government and State government in India. Qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools referred to in clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act is that he/she should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which will be conducted by the appropriate Government.

National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has initiated new regulation for those aspiring to become teachers in schools under Government, private, unaided and aided categories. In accordance with the provisions of subsection (1) of section 23 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has laid down the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in class I to VIII.
The test will be conducted once a year, separately by state governments and the Central.
There are two levels of TETs. A candidate may choose either or both of the tests.1) Level 1 Test – This test is conducted for those who aspire to become a Primary teacher (Class I to V).2) Level 2 Test – These tests are conducted for those who aspire to become a Secondary Teacher (Class VI to VIII).

Central Teacher Eligibility Test CTET
CBSE also conduct Central Teacher Eligibility Test CTET to be eligible to teach in the schools of the Central Government in India. States are free to conduct their own STET (State Teacher Eligibility Test) or honour CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test).
The CTET shall apply to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UT’s of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and NCT of Delhi.
CTET may also apply to the unaided private schools, who may exercise the option of considering the CTET.
State Level Teacher Eligibility Test –STET is eligibility test conducted by State. STET will be a compulsory and essential requirement for securing a teaching job in all types of schools. State Governments / Union Territories have to draw guidelines to this effect as per the norms laid down by NCTE. Schools owned and managed by the State Government/local bodies and aided schools shall consider the TET conducted by the State Government. However, a State Government can also consider the CTET if it decides not to conduct the State TET.
NET – National Eligibility Test
UGC NET Exam is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian Universities and Colleges.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be conducting the National Eligibility Test (CBSE NET) on behalf of the University Grants Commission. The UGC NET is conducting for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship and eligibility for Assistant Professor, in Indian universities and colleges.
SLET or SET – State Level Eligibility Test or State Eligibility Test
The State Level Eligibility Test is conducted in English in all states in India and in some universities also. States opted to conduct their own test i.e. State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) for lectureship only.
Candidates who qualify in the Test are eligible to apply for the post of lecturer within the jurisdiction of the Member-States of this SLET Commission. They will be given a pass-certificate and the validity period of certificate is forever.
Any Indian National who obtained Master Degree with at least 55% marks is eligible to sit in the SET. However in the case of SC/ST candidate the minimum requirement of mark is 50% on the subject he/she opts to appear. Those candidates who have even secured 54.99% marks in case of General candidates (or 49.99% marks in case of SC/ST candidates) in Master Degree examination are not eligible for this Test. There is no provision of rounding up of marks to make it 55% ( 50% for SC/ST).
CSIR UGC NET
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi hold the Single MCQ Examination (Joint CSIR – UGC Test) for the Award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) NET and appointment for Lecturer (NET).
CSIR holds the Joint CSIR-UGC Test for determining the eligibility of the Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science & Technology. The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/ national laboratory/ institution of higher learning and research, as applicable.
PRT, TGT, PGT

TGT PGT Eligibility Criteria
Age limit: The minimum age of applicant should be 21 as on 01 July
Maximum age : 35 years for TGT post
40 years for PGT post as on 31st January 2014.
TGT Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) Exam This exam conducted by most of the states in India, for the recruitment of graduate teacher in state govt. schools.
Candidates from any Graduate in any discipline with B.Ed degree from recognized university/institute/college may apply to TGT exam. Minimum age limit to appear in this exam is 21 years and there is no upper age limit for this exam. But it may be vary state wise.
You have to passed 4 years Integrated degree course from Regional NCERT Collage of Education in relevant subject with minimum 50% marks/ B.Ed or equivalent qualification/ English & Hindi/ Concerned Regional Language Teaching Ability/ CTET passed organized by CBSE
PGT Post Graduate Teacher Exam conducted by most of the states in India, for the recruitment of graduate teacher in state govt. schools.
Candidates from any Graduate in any discipline with B.Ed degree from recognized university/institute/college may apply to PGT exam. Minimum age limit to appear in this exam is 21 years and there is no upper age limit for this exam. But it may be vary state wise.
You have to passed 2 year Post Graduate course from Regional NCERT College of Education in relevant subject with minimum 50% marks/ B.Ed or equivalent qualification/ Proficiency in Teaching in Hindi & English Languages.
PRT Exam Primary Teacher Exam Conducted by most of the states in India, for the recruitment of graduate teacher in state govt. schools.
Eligibility
Senior Secondary School Certificate with 50% marks or Intermediate with 10
50% marks or its equivalent;
ii) Pass in the CTET conducted by the CBSE in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE for the purpose.
iii) Competence to teach through Hindi & English media.
B.Ed
Candidates who have finished their Master’s with a minimum of 55% marks can appear for this exam. The age limit of candidates is 28 years. A relaxation of 5 years is available for the backward category & Women.
M.Ed
Those who are appearing for this examination must have cleared their Bachelors from any accepted University. The score that is required for the admission of candidates into this course will vary in each university.
