What is the IIT JAM?

Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test for Master’s (IIT JAM) is a common admission test conducted every year for admission into Master of Science and other post-graduate science programs at Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Science and National Institutes of Technology, organized by alternating institutes every year.

JAM Score is used for admission to various postgraduate programmes such as (i) M.Sc., (ii) M.Sc. (Tech.), (iii) MS (Research), (iv) M.Sc. – M.Tech. Dual Degree, (v) Joint M.Sc. – Ph.D., and (vi) M.Sc. – Ph.D. Dual Degree, across multiple disciplines by premier institutes across the country.

The main objective of JAM is to revive and consolidate ‘Science’ as a career option for bright students from across the country and provide them a single step opportunity for admission to some of the postgraduate programs offered at the IITs

In due course, JAM is also expected to become a benchmark for normalizing undergraduate level science education in the country
