NEET UG
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) has replaced AIPMT. With the scrapping of AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS Entrance Exams, the NEET UG exam has become the single MBBS and BDS entrance exam in India for admission to UG Medical and Dental courses. NEET Exam is conducted by the NTA. Students can write the NEET exam in Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati languages.

NEET PG
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG is held to give admissions to various postgraduate medical courses across India. The NEET PG is a computer based online exam, conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

NEET SS
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Speciality exam (NEET SS) is held for admissions to various DM/M Ch courses in India. The exam is conducted by the b. Various private and government medical colleges accept the NEET SS scores. It is a computer based exam with Multiple Choice questions.

 

AIIMS PG
The All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) conducts its separate entrance exam for admissions to Postgraduate courses in Medicine – MD/MS/M Ch/DM/MDS. The exam is organised twice a year. Admission to these courses at the AIIMS institutes located at New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh is done through this exam. It is held online in CBT mode and has Multiple Choice question format.

AIIMS SS
The All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) conducts its separate entrance exam for admissions to SuperSpeciality DM and M Ch courses. The exam is subjective and is held online in the CBT mode.

 

JIPMER PG
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry is one of the leading medical institutions of India established in the year 1823 under the Government of India. Conducts its separate entrance exam for admission to Postgraduate courses, MD and MS. It is a national level Medical entrance exam held in two sessions- in the month of January & July.

PGIMER
The Post Graduate Institute for Medical Education and Research conducts an entrance exam for admission to postgraduate medical courses – MD and MS. Applications are invited usually during September/October and March/April for the January and July session respectively. The entrance examination is held in December for the January session and in June for July session.Candidates are assessed at a formal entrance-test on the basis of a suitably designed Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type theory paper.

DNB PDCET
Post Diploma Centralized Entrance Test for admission to various Post Diploma DNB (Diploma of National Board) courses is conducted by NBE. The paper is objective type and is held online. According to the medical field, the DNB Super Specialty course is considered equivalent to MD/MS courses.

FET – Fellowship Entrance Test
The Fellowship Entrance Test (FET) is conducted by NBE for admission to postdoctoral courses. It is held annually in a computer based mode. Those with a postgraduate medical degree are eligible for the exam.

Now let us see the eligibility criteria that a candidate needs to fulfil so that he can appear for one of these medical entrance exams.

Eligibility for Medical Entrance Exams

1. NEET

  • Citizens of India, Non-resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and foreign nationals are eligible to appear for the exam.
  • The candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
  • The candidate must have completed 17 years of age on 31st December 2020.

 

2. NEET PG

  • The candidates must possess an MBBS degree from a recognized Institute.
  • They should have completed one year of compulsory internship.
  • They must have a provisional or permanent MCI registration.
  • There is no age limit to apply for NEET PG.

 

3. NEET SS

  • Candidates must possess a post-graduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) from a recognized institution.
  • Candidates should have completed post graduation before 15 July 2020.
  • The candidate must be registered with the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council.
  • There is no age limit to appear for the examination.

 

4. AIIMS PG

  • The candidates must possess an MBBS degree from a recognized Institute.
  • They should have completed one year of compulsory internship.
  • They must have a provisional or permanent MCI registration.

 

5. AIIMS SS

  • The candidate must possess a postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB) from a recognized university.
  • The registration with MCI or State council is compulsory.

 

6. JIPMER PG

  • The candidates must possess an MBBS degree from a recognized Institute.
  • They should have completed one year of compulsory internship.
  • They must have a provisional or permanent MCI registration.
  • The minimum qualifying marks for general category, OBC, and EWS is 55 % and for SC/ST is 50%.

 

7. PGIMER

  • The candidates must possess an MBBS degree from a recognized Institute.
  • They should have completed one year of compulsory internship.
  • They must have a provisional or permanent MCI registration.

 

8. DNB PDCET

  • The candidate must possess a Postgraduate Diploma from a recognized university.
  • The PG diploma course should be completed on or before 31st December 2019.
  • Candidates already persuing any MD/MS/DNB are not eligible to appear for the exam.

 

9. FET

  • The candidate must possess a postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DM/MCh/DNB) in the relevant specialty from a recognized institute.
  • There is no age limit to pursue the course.
  • The registration with MCI or the State Medical Council is compulsory.
