NCERT announces National Talent Search Exam for Class 10 Students, Apply online

NTSE 2021 – The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) for students studying in Class X is meant to identify the talented students and awarding them scholarships to pursue their further studies and nurture them nurture them. The examination is conducted every year at two levels: Stage-I (State Level) and Stage-II (National Level).

 

NTSE Dates 2021

Stage-I (State)

  • Last Date for Submission of Application Form for Indian students studying in India : To be notified by the respective State/UP. May vary from state to state
  • Last Date for Submission of Application Form for Indian students studying in Abroad : 28th February 2022
  • Examination in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andaman & Nicobar Islands: 15th January 2022 (Saturday)
  • Examination in all other States and Union Territories : 16th January 2022 (Sunday)
  • Examination in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana : 23th January 2022

State-II (National)

  • Exam in All other States and Union Territories : 12th June 2022 (Sunday)

 

Scholarships

  • A maximum of 2000 scholarships will be awarded for different stages of education as per details given below:
  • Scholarship of Rs. 1250/- per month for Class -XI to XII.
  • Scholarship of Rs. 2000/- per month for Undergraduates and Postgraduates.
  • Scholarship of Rs. 2000/- per month for Undergraduates and Postgraduates.
  • Amount of Scholarship for PhD is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.

 

NTSE 2021 Eligibility Criteria

  • All students of Class X studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the Stage-I examination, conducted by the States/ UTs in which the schools are located. There is no domicile restriction.
  • Students registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) will also be eligible for appearing in the exam, provided the student is below the age 18 years (as on 01st July of the particular year), the student is not employed and she is appearing in Class X examination for the first time.

 

Reservation 

  • At the national level for State-II Examination 15% for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% for students belonging to the ST category and 27% for students belonging to OBC category. 10% for Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) those who have not been covered under the reservation scheme for SCs/STs/OBCs, 4% for children with benchmark disabilities.

 

NTSE 2021 Application Process

  • Application Form for Indian Students Studying Abroad will be uploaded on NCERT website in the month of January, 2022. Those candidates may fill up the Application Form, and send it to the undersigned along with a photocopy of the marks sheet of the previous examination, latest by 28th February, 2022.
  • There is no application form for Stage-II Exam for Students studying in India.
  • You may contact the State/UT Liaison officer for procuring application form. The complete application form should be signed by the Principal of the school much before the last date of submission.
  • The candidate as well as the Principal of the school must adhere to the last date for submission of the Application Form.
  • Different states may have different last dates for submission. Please confirm from the Liaison Officer of your state, the address at which the completed forms are to be submitted.
  • The address and contact number of the Liaison Officer of the States/UTs are available (State-wise) in the NCERT website https://ncert.nic.in/

 

Selection Process

  • State-I, selection will be done by States/UTs through  state level exam and those who are selected/recommended by states as per quota approved by ministry of Education (MoE) will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT.
  • However, Indian Students Studying Abroad in Class X Can appear directly for Stage-II NTS Examination under conditions prescribed in the NTS brochure which is available on the NCERT website.

  • Qualifying Marks : Qualifying marks for candidates from SC/ST/PH category is 32% in each paper and for others (General/OBC & EWS) categories it is 40% in each paper.
