CSIR UGC NET December 2022 / June 2023 – National Testing Agency on behalf of The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will be conducting Joint CSIR-UGC NET Dec 2022/ June 2023 Examination in CBT mode to determine the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureship (LS) /Assistant Professorship’ in Indian universities and colleges.
CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science & Technology.

Eligibility Criteria
- M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/B. Tech/B. Pharm/MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates.
- Candidates enrolled for M.Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the closing date of online submission of Application Form, are also eligible to apply under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail the fellowship.
- Such candidates will have to submit the attestation form duly certified by the Head of the Department/Institute from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared. B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC candidates; 50% marks for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates are also eligible to apply.
- The eligibility for lectureship/ Assistant Professor of NET qualified candidates will be subject to fulfilling the criteria laid down by UGC. Ph.D. degree holders who have passed Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991 with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for Lectureship/ Assistant Professor only.
Age Limit
- (a) JRF: Maximum 28 years as on 01/07/2023* {upper age limit may be relaxable up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/Third gender/Persons with Disability (PwD)/female applicants and 03 years in case of OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) applicants}. *This age limit is applicable for the current examination cycle only.
- (b) Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor: No upper age limit
Application Process
- Candidates can apply for Joint CSIR-UGC NET Dec 2022 / June 2023 through the “Online” mode. Submission of Online Application Form may be done by accessing the NTA website https://csirnet.nta.nic.in/
- Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate.
- Candidates must follow the instructions strictly as given in the Information Bulletin and on the NTA website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified.
- Candidates must ensure that the Email Address and Mobile Number provided in the Online Application Form are their own as all information/ communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address or SMS on registered Mobile Number only.

CSIR UGC NET 2022 Exam Pattern
- Mode of Exam: Computer Based Test (CBT) only
- Exam sessions: The CSIR NET entrance exam will be held in two sessions;
- First session: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
- Second session: 02:30 pm to 05:30 pm
- Duration of Exam: 180 minutes (03 hours)
- Type of Question: All the parts will consist of objective type, multiple choice questions.
- Question Paper: The question paper shall be divided into three parts.

Exam Centres
- It is mandatory for candidates to select four cities of their choice while filling the Online Application Form of Joint CSIR-UGC NET Dec 2022 / June 2023.
- The effort will be made to allot the Centre of Exam to the candidates in order of the City choice opted by them in their Application Form. However, due to administrative reasons, a different city or nearby area may be allotted.
