Establishment
The School of Planning, established in 1972, is one of the foremost Schools of Planning in the country.
The School receives financical and logistics support from the Government of India, the Government of Gujarat and the Ahmedabad Education Society, which are esteemed patrons. The initial financial assistance was made available through a grant from the Ford Foundation.
All academic programs are approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) besides newly launched IAPM (Industrial area planning and management) and all the programs are recognised by ITPI (Institute of Town Planners, India).
Courses Offered
Graduates and postgraduates in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Sociology, Economics and Geography pursue a degree in planning. The two year course enriches their capabilities, simultaneously inculcating team work. Seminars, discussions and exchange programmes are organized regularly for constant interaction with national and international agencies, thereby aiding a holistic exposure.
Admission Process
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum qualification required for admission to all the specializations is a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Architecture/Civil Engineering/Planning or a Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Geography / Economics / Sociology from a recognized University / Institution. GATE qualified candidates are accorded priority.
PAT 2009
Admission test which includes a Written Test and Group Discussions along with Personal Interviews will be held at Guwahati on 20th June, Chennai on 23rd June, Bangalore on 22nd June, Kolkata on 21st June, Lucknow on 23rd June, Pune on 20th-21st June, Delhi on 26th-27th June and Ahmedabad on 29th June 2009. PAT09 may be conducted, depending on a minimum number of candidates opting for these centers.
The application form may be downloaded from the website www.cept.ac.in/ www.spcept.ac.in and submitted to the Faculty of Planning and Public Policy along with a demand draft of Rs. 500/- in favour of CEPT University or in cash. The last date of returning the filled form is 10th June 2009.
Foreign Students
The application fee for foreign students is INR1000 and one needs to apply with a proof of design/research work (A4 size), copy of transcripts and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member of the last institute attended. Admission will be done based on the work portfolio and transcripts. The last date of returning the filled-up application form is 10th June 2009.
