Bharathiar University, Coimbatore announces Admission to M.Phil and PhD Program (July 2023) Session

 
Bharathiar University M.Phil and PhD Admission 2023 – Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D. (full time /Part time Regular Stream July 2023 Session) Programmes during the year 2023-2024 for University departments / Affiliated colleges / Approved research institutions of Bharathiar University.

  • Start of Online Registration: 15th June 2023
  • Last Date for submission of Online Application: 15th to 30th June 2023
  • Date of Common Eligibility Test: to be announced

 

Eligibility Criteria

For M.Phil Program

  • Candidates with Master’s degree of Bharathiar University in the concerned or related discipline or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate of Bharathiar University are eligible.
  • The candidates should have passed a postgraduate degree course either with SSLC + HSC + UG + PG (i.e., 10 + 2 + 3 + 2) or with 11-years SSLC + PUC + UG + PG (i.e., 11 + 1 + 3 + 2) or with 10-years SSLC + 3 years Diploma + 2 years UG degree + 2 years PG (i.e., 10 + 3 + 2 + 2) or with 10 years SSLC + HSC + 4 years UG degree and 1 year PG degree (i.e., 10 + 2 + 4 + 1). Thus, only the candidates possessing a PG degree with 17 years of total duration of study alone are eligible for admission to the M. Phil., programme.
  • The candidates possessing professional degrees such as M. E., and M. Tech., and PG degree in Medicine, Law, Agriculture and similar other professional courses are not eligible for admission to the M.Phil., programmes of the University. 
  • Candidates having a minimum of 55% marks and above in the Master’s degree and working as Full- time Research Fellows / Technical Assistants / Research Assistants in time-bound research schemes of one year duration or more in the University Departments / Research Departments of Affiliated Colleges / Research Institutions approved by the University shall be eligible to pursue the course leading to M.Phil., Degree.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates.

For PhD Program

  • The candidates should have passed a postgraduate degree course either with SSLC + HSC + UG + PG (i.e., 10 + 2 + 3 + 2) or with 11-years SSLC + PUC + UG + PG (i.e., 11 + 1 + 3 + 2) or with 10-years SSLC + 3 years Diploma + 2 years UG degree + 2 years PG (i.e., 10 + 3 + 2 + 2) or with 10 years SSLC + HSC + 4 years UG degree and 1 year PG degree (i.e., 10 + 2 + 4 + 1). Thus, only the candidates possessing a PG degree with 17 years of total duration of study alone are eligible for admission to the Ph. D., programme.
  • The candidates possessing professional degrees such as M. E., and M. Tech., and PG degree in Medicine, Law, Agriculture and similar other professional courses are not eligible for admission to the PhD. programs of the University. 
  • Master’s Degree holders satisfying the qualification criteria stipulated under supra 2 above shall be eligible to appear for CET. However, the candidates who qualify in UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SLET / SET / GATE, scientists working  in DRDO/Faculty of Air Force Administrative College, candidates possessing M.Phil., Degree, holders of teacher fellowship (like FIP and FDP) and candidates of foreign origin possessing prescribed qualifications shall be exempted from appearing for CET.

 

Application Process

  • Eligible Candidates should apply for the Common Eligibility Test (CET) through the official website https://b-u.ac.in/ from 15th June to 30th June 2023
  • A valid E-mail ID for the registration process is mandatory to have and submit with the application process for receiving all the correspondence.

 

Application Fee

  • Candidates have to pay the cost application for Rs.1000/- for PhD and Rs.750/- for M.Phil for each programme through Online mode only
  • For SC/ST Candidates – Rs.375/- for M.Phil and Rs.500/- for Ph.D
  • Mode of Payment: Through only online/DD/NEFT

 

Admission Procedure

  • Candidates who have successfully completed CET during August 2022/June 2023 are eligible to seek admission in the forthcoming July 2023 session only.
  • M.Phil. FT/PT admission will be made only on the basis of the marks obtained in the June 2023 Common Entrance Test and interview.
