National Brain Research Centre PhD and MSc Admission 2024 – National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) Gurgaon invites applications for admission to PhD and M.Sc. (Neuroscience) Programs for the academic year 2024.
About NBRC
- National Brain Research Centre is a premier institute in India dedicated to Neuroscience Research and Education. Scientists and students at NBRC come from diverse academic backgrounds, including biological, computational, mathematical, physical, engineering and medical sciences, and use multidisciplinary approaches to unravel function under healthy and pathological conditions. NBRC is an autonomous institute funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, and is also a Deemed-to-be University. NBRC has been recognised as an Institution of Excellence by Govt. of India. NBRC conducts cutting-edge research in diverse areas of the interdisciplinary field of neuroscience.

- Last date of receipt of application (Online / Offline) for the M.Sc. programme at NBRC: 31st March 2024
- Last date of receipt of application (Online / Offline) for Ph.D. program at NBRC: 16th May 2024
- Last date of receipt of requests for hard copy of application form : 1st March 2024
- Interview for the M.Sc. program : To be announced later
- Interview for Ph.D. program : To be announced later
- Shortlisted candidates will be notified by e-mail by April / May 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
For PhD (Neuroscience)
- A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of Doctor of Philosophy should meet the following criteria:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / M.Sc. Degree in Psychology from a recognized Institute / University.
- You are also eligible if you have completed a minimum of a four-year course leading to a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
- Candidates appearing for the final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
- At least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or an equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) examination onwards is required.
- Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.
For M.Sc. (Neuroscience)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / B.Sc. Degree in Psychology / Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
- Candidates appearing for the final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
- At least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or an equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) examination onwards is required.
- Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.

Application Process
- Eligible candidates can apply online through University website http://www.nbrc.ac.in/
- Candidates who wish to apply by offline mode need to obtain an application form from NBRC. In order to obtain the application form, please send a self-addressed A-4 size envelope to the Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122052 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana).
- If you are eligible for both M.Sc. (Neuroscience) and Ph.D. programmes, you can choose to apply for both the programmes by filling in separate online application forms (by using different email-ids) or sending application by post / courier. You will have to pay the fee separately for each programme.
Step to follow

- Step 2: Apply for JGEEBILS (December 2023)
- Step 3: Apply here to the NBRC Ph.D. program before 31st March 2024 or M.Sc. programme before 31st March 2024. You must apply to NBRC using this link. Merely applying for JGEEBILS does not automatically send your application to NBRC.
- Step 4: Pay the required amount of fee as described here.
Application Fee
Fee for Online applicants
- For General Candidates: Rs.500/- + GST
- For SC/ST/PH Candidates: Rs.250/- + GST
Fee for Offline applicants
- For General Candidates: Rs.600/- + GST
- For SC/ST/PH Candidates: Rs.300/- + GST
- Mode of Payment: Online through ‘SB Collect’ of State Bank of India / Offline through Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, National Brain Research Centre payable at Gurgaon or Manesar
