Eligibility Criteria
PhD in Management
- Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or Equivalent grade
- An equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency
Ph.D. in Engineering
- Candidates for admission to the Programme shall have a Master’s degree (M.E. / M.Tech.) / (M.Phil / M.Sc. for Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics). Minimum 2 years Programme or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade
Ph.D. in Technology Management
- Candidates for admission to the Programme shall have a Master’s degree M.E./ M.Tech. / (MBA with B.E. / B.Tech.) (Minimum 2 years Program) / M.C.A. or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade
Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Candidates for admission to the programme shall have a Master’s Degree examination in Pharmacy of any Statutory University or equivalent there to with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale
Ph.D. in Commerce
- Candidates for admission to the programme shall have a Master’s Degree examination in related field of any Statutory University or equivalent there to with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent
Ph.D. in Psychology
- Candidates for admission to the program shall have a Master’s degree M.Sc./ M.A in any branch of Psychology (Minimum 2 yrs Program) including Psychology, Applied Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Industrial/ Organizational Psychology/ M.Phil ( RCI)
Ph. D in Biological Sciences
- Candidates for admission to the program shall have a Master’s degree M.Sc. in any branch of Biological Sciences (Minimum 2 yrs Program) including Microbiology, Biochemistry, Life Science, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology, Applied Biology, Bioinformatics, Biodiversity, Environmental Science. OR
- A degree in allied fields such as M.B.B.S., B.A.M.S., B.D.S., Masters in Veterinary Sciences (M.V.Sc.), M.Sc. Bioanalytical Chemistry, M.Sc. in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, M.Sc. in Food Science and Nutrition, M.Sc. in Medical Lab Technology, M. Pharm., M. E. /M. Tech. (Biotechnology and Bioengineering). OR A professional degree related to Biological Sciences, which is declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, quality and standards of educational institutions.
Ph. D in Chemistry
- Candidates for admission to the program shall have a Master’s degree M. Sc. (Minimum 2 yrs Program) in any branch of Chemical Sciences, Material Science, M.Sc. Bioanalytical Chemistry, M. Sc. in Nutraceuticals, Nanoscience or Biochemistry from recognized university/institute. OR
- an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority
Ph.D. in Law
- Candidates for admission to the Programme shall have a Master’s degree in Law. Minimum 1 years Programme or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale
Ph.D. in Statistics
- Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme in Statistics shall have a Master’s degree in Statistics/ Applied Statistics or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree in Statistics by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade
Ph.D. in Economics
- Candidates for admission to the programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade

Selection Process
- Selection will be based on Entrance Test & personal interview.
Ph.D. in Management:
a) Entrance Test: (100 marks, 120 minutes), will be conducted at Mumbai campus only.
- Section A : 50% Research Aptitude Test (Objective)
- Section B : 50% Domain specific Knowledge test (Objective)
- The candidate must have qualified a written test with qualifying marks as 50% conducted by the SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed to be University. Only an entrance test qualified candidate will be called for a Personal Interview.
- Note: Candidates those who have qualified (with valid period & valid score) in NET / SET / GATE / GPAT / JRF examination of the apex bodies in higher / technical professional education such as UGC, CSIR, ICMR or other equivalent examinations mentioned on the scorecard, such candidates are exempted from NMIMS entrance test. However, they have to appear for a Personal Interview.
b) Personal Interview:
- Personal interview will be based on Statement of Purpose and
- The candidates must demonstrate research orientation, aptitude and commitment during Personal Interview in addition to conceptual clarity in the area of specialization.
- Final merit list will be based on entrance test & personal interview marks.
c) Weightage
- Entrance Test : 100 marks (70%)
- Personal Interview : 50 marks (30%)
Ph.D. Engineering and Technology Management
a) Entrance Test: (100 marks, 90 minutes), will be conducted at Mumbai campus only.
- Section A: 50% Research methodology
- Section B: 50% Area / Domain Specific
- The candidate must have qualified a written test with qualifying marks as 50% conducted by the SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed to be University. Only an entrance test qualified candidate will be called for a Personal Interview.

- The candidate must have qualified a written test with qualifying marks as 50% conducted by the SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed to be University. Only an entrance test qualified candidate will be called for a Personal Interview.

- The candidate must have qualified a written test with qualifying marks as 50% conducted by the SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed to be University. Only an entrance test qualified candidate will be called for a Personal Interview.
- Note : Candidates qualified in NET/SET in Commerce or Management or any other examination of the apex bodies in higher education are exempted from the written test conducted by SVKM’s NMIMS and their selection would be through interview only.
- Candidates with any research fellowship from Government agencies are exempted from the written test conducted by SVKM’s NMIMS and their selection would be through interview only.
b) Personal Interview:
- Presentation based on Statement of Purpose will be followed by Personal Interview.
- During interviews, candidates are expected to discuss their research interest/area.

- The candidate must have passed the Entrance Admission Test conducted by NMIMS University. OR
- The candidate has qualified UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SLET / GATE examination of the apex bodies in higher/technical professional education or other equivalent examination.
a) Entrance Test (Time: 90 minutes / Total: 100 Marks), will be conducted at Mumbai campus only.
- Section A: 50% of Research Methodology
- Section B: 50% Area / Domain Specific
- The candidate must have qualified an entrance test with qualifying marks as 50% conducted by the NMIMS University. Only entrance test qualified candidates would be called for the Personal Interview process.
- NOTE: The candidate qualified in UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SLET / GATE / Teacher Fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil. Programs are exempted from the NMIMS entrance test. However, they have to appear for a Personal Interview.
b) Personal Interview (Total 50 Marks)
- Personal Interview will be held at Mumbai campus only.
- Presentation based on SOP will be followed by Personal Interview
- During interview candidates are expected to discuss their research Interest / area
- Final merit list will be based on entrance Test & Personal Interview marks.
- Admission offer is given as per the merit and vacancy available. WAITLISTED candidates have to check their merit list status as per the date given on the website. SELECTED candidate should upload necessary required documents and pay the full course fees at the link given in respective candidate’s log-in within the stipulated given time frame. Kindly note that only those candidates who complete the process by paying fees will be admitted to the program.

- The candidate must have passed the Entrance Admission Test conducted by NMIMS University. OR
- The candidate has qualified UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SLET / GATE / GPAT examination of the apex bodies in higher/technical professional education or other equivalent examination.
a) Entrance Test (Time: 90 minutes / Total: 100 Marks), will be conducted at Mumbai campus only.
- Section A: 50% of Research Methodology
- Section B: 50% Area / Domain Specific
- The candidate must have qualified an entrance test with qualifying marks as 50% conducted by the NMIMS University. Only entrance test qualified candidates would be called for the Personal Interview process.
- NOTE: The candidate qualified in UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SLET / GATE / Teacher Fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil. Programs are exempted from the NMIMS entrance test. However, they have to appear for a Personal Interview.

- The candidate must have qualified a written test with qualifying marks as 50% conducted by the SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed to be University. Only an entrance test qualified candidate will be called for a Personal Interview.

- NOTE: The candidate who has qualified in UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SLET / GATE / Teacher Fellowship holder or has passed M.Phil. Programs is exempted from NMIMS entrance test. However, the candidate has to appear for Personal Interview.
