About the University
- Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha has been established by the State Legislature of Odisha as a State University in 2015. It is the only Women’s University of Odisha named after Maa Rama Devi as a humble tribute to her values and sacrifices. It offers U.G., P.G. and Ph.D. programmes to cater to the educational needs of women of the region.

Eligibility Criteria
- Women candidates with Master Degree securing at least 55% of marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) or an equivalent Grade in the concerned subject or related allied subject from any University/ Institution recognized as equivalent thereto by RDWU. The allied subjects for admission into Ph.D. program in a particular department shall be decided by the respective Department Research Committee (DRC).
- A relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50% or equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PwD and other categories of candidates as per the State Reservation Policy from time to time or for those who had obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September, 1991. A relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on qualifying marks without including grace marks.
- Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET/JRF / UGC-CSIR NET/JRF / GATE / DBT / ICMR / ICSSR / ICAR / NBHM / BRNS INSPIRE Fellowship of DST / RGNF / Teacher Fellowship holder/ M.Phil. Degree or any other fellowship at national level for Ph.D. will be exempted from Entrance Test.
- NET/JRF qualified applicants are required to submit the category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/Gen-EwS/PwD) along with application form online as well as at the time of admission, under which they have qualified NET/JRF].
Application Process
- The interested and eligible candidates may apply ONLINE by clicking ‘e-Admission’ in the University Website https://rdwu.ac.in
- The candidate needs to read the Ph.D. Admission Prospectus 2023-24, instructions related to online application process and eligibility minutely before registration into online application.
- The candidate has to upload all required documents/certificates on an online portal.
- Application fees of Rs.1000/-(Rupees One Thousand) only is to be paid by each applicant online and deposit/transfer slip to be kept for reference and later use.
- Application fees are to be deposited through online Bank Challan (pdf available in application portal).
- Application fees deposit slip (University Copy) with reference number is to be uploaded in the application portal.
- Hard copy of the application form will not be received by the University.
- The candidate has to keep a print- out of online generated application form for reference and later use.
Selection Process
- A list of eligible candidates (Entrance Qualified and Exempted Candidates) will be published on the University Website for appearing viva-voce examination.
- Selection of candidates will be based on Career Score and Viva-Voce Score:

RDWU-Research Eligibility Test (RDWU-RET)
- For admission into PhD. program at RDWU the candidate needs to qualify an Entrance Test and Viva-Voce Examination.
- The Entrance Test called ‘RDWU-RET, 2023-24’ is applicable to non-exempted candidates and it will be conducted in Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar.
- The syllabus for RDWU-RET, 2023-24 will be the same as prescribed for Post Graduate syllabus of Rama Devi Women’s University in the respective subject in addition to research methodology.
- There will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) of 100 marks each and two hours duration. The questions of the Entrance Test, as far as practicable, shall consist of 50% from research methodology and 50% from the subject concerned. There is no negative marking.
- RDWU-RET 2023-24 will be treated as the only qualifying examination.
- Qualifying percentage is 50% in RDWU-RET 2023-24.
- List of Entrance Qualified candidates will be published on the University Website.
