SSC CHSL 2024 Notification released, Apply online for 3712 Posts 

 

SSC CHSL 2024 – The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released a notification for Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination 2024 for filling up of various Group C posts viz. Lower Divisional Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant and Data Entry Operators for various Ministries/ Departments/ Offices of the Government of India and various Constitutional Bodies/ Statutory Bodies/ Tribunals, etc..

Post & Pay Details

  • Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): Pay Level-2 (Rs. 19,900-63,200).
  • Data Entry Operator (DEO): Pay Level-4(Rs. 25,500-81,100) and Level-5(Rs. 29,200-92,300).
  • Data Entry Operator, Grade „A‟: Pay Level-4 (Rs. 25,500-81,100).

Eligibility Criteria 

  • All the aspiring candidates of SSC CHSL 2024 have to abide by all the Eligibility Criteria decided by the Commission.

Nationality/ Citizenship:

  • A candidate must be either:
  • a citizen of India, or
  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a subject of Bhutan, or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar),Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Essential Educational Qualifications (As on 01-08-2024):

  • For Data Entry Operator (DEO)/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Ministry of Culture: 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
  • For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ (except DEOs in Department/ Ministry mentioned at Para 8.1 above): Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
  • The candidates who have appeared in their 12th Standard or equivalent examination can also apply, however they must possess Essential qualification on or before the cutoff date i.e. 01-08-2024.

Age Limit (as on 01-08-2024)

  • Age limit for the posts is 18-27 years i.e. Candidates born not before 02-08-1997 and not later than 01-08-2006 are eligible to apply.

Age Relaxation

  • As per government guidelines age relaxation in SSC CHSL 2024 is given in the table below:
  • SC/ ST – 5 years
  • OBC – 3 years
  • PwBD (Unreserved) – 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC) – 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ ST) – 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM) – 03 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on closing date of receipt of online application.
  • Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof. – 03 years
  • Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof (SC/ ST). – 08 years
  • Central Government Civilian Employees: Who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date for receipt of online applications. – Up to 40 years of age
  • Central Government Civilian Employees: Who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date for receipt of online applications (SC/ ST). – Up to 45 years of age
  • Widows/ Divorced Women/ Women judicially separated and who are not remarried. – Up to 35 years of age
  • Widows/ Divorced Women/ Women judicially separated and who are not remarried (SC/ ST). – Up to 40 years of age

 

Application Process

  • The process of filling online application for the examination consists of two parts:
    • One Time Registration
    • Filling of online Application for the Examination

 

I. One Time Registration

  • For One-Time Registration, click on “Register Now” link provided in the “Login or Register” Section provided on new website of the Commission i.e. https://ssc.gov.in
  • The One-Time Registration process requires filling up of following information:
    • Personal Details
    • Password Creation
    • Additional Details
    • Declaration

II. Filling of online Application for the Examination

  • Applications must be submitted in online mode only through the website of SSC Headquarter i.e. https://ssc.gov.in
  • Read the instructions given in the Notice of Examination carefully before filling up the online Application Form.
  • Last date and time for submission of online applications is 07-05-2024 (23:00).

 

Application Fee

  • For General / OBC / EWS: 100/-
  • For SC / ST / PH : 0/- (Nil)
  • For All Category Female : 0/- (Exempted)
  • Pay the Exam Fee Through Online Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking Fee Mode Only.

 

Selection Procedure

  • Minimum qualifying marks in Tier-I, and Section-I, Section-II & Module-I of Section-III of Tier-II Examination are as follows:
    • UR : 30%
    • OBC/ EWS : 25%
    • All other categories : 20%
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Tier-II Examination on the basis of their performance in Tier-I Examination. Normalized scores of candidates will be used to determine merit and for final selection.

 

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern

  • The Computer Based Examination will be conducted in two tiers as indicated below:

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern

  • The Tier-I Examination will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions only. The questions will be set in English, Hindi and any language opted by the candidate in the application form, as given at Annexure-XVI for Part-II, III & IV of Tier-I examination.
  • There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.

    • Tier-II will include following three sections having two modules each:
  • Section-I:
      • Module-I: Mathematical Abilities
      • Module-II: Reasoning and General Intelligence.
  • Section-II:
      • Module-I: English Language and Comprehension
      • Module-II: General Awareness
  • Section-III:
    • Module-I: Computer Knowledge Test
    • Module-II: Skill Test/Typing Test
    • Tier-II will be conducted in two sessions – Session –I & Session-II, on same day. Session-I will include conducting of Section-I, Section-II and Module-I of Section-III. Session-II will include conducting of Module-II of Section-III.
  • It will be mandatory for the candidates to qualify all the sections of Tier-II.
    • Tier-II will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions, except for Module-II of Section-III. The questions will be set in English, Hindi and any language opted by the candidate in the application form, as given at AnnexureXVI except for Module-II (i.e. English Language and Comprehension module) in Section-II.
    • There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, Section-II and Module-I of Section-III. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
    • Module-I of Section-III i.e. Computer Knowledge Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
  • Module-II of Section-III i.e. Skill Test/ Typing Test:
    • Module-II of Section-III will include conducting of Skill Test/ Typing Test in Session-II on the same day.
  • Part C – Typing Test for other posts i.e. LDC/ JSA:
    • The medium of Typing Test will be Hindi or English. The candidates will have to opt for the medium of Typing Test (i.e. either Hindi or English) in the online Application Form.

 

SSC CHSL 2024 Syllabus

Indicative Syllabus Tier-I:

  • English Language: Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/ Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Active/ Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/ Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage.
  • General Intelligence: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/ Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/ Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/ pattern-folding & unfolding, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern-folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding, Numerical operations, Other sub-topics, if any.
  • Quantitative Aptitude:
    • Number Systems: Computation of Whole Number, Decimal and Fractions, Relationship between numbers.

    • Geometry: Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts: Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles.
    • Mensuration: Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base.
    • Trigonometry: Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances (simple problems only) Standard Identities like sin2𝜃 + Cos2𝜃=1 etc.,
    • Statistical Charts: Use of Tables and Graphs: Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar-diagram, Pie-chart.
  • General Awareness: Questions are designed to test the candidate‟s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.
  • For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability, there will be no component of Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data in the General Intelligence and Quantitative Aptitude parts.

      • Algebra: Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds (simple problems) and Graphs of Linear Equations
      • Geometry: Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts: Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles.

To test comprehension, two or more paragraphs will be given and questions based on those will be asked.       • Questions are designed to test the candidates‟ general awareness of the environment around them and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries, especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.
  • Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I (Computer Proficiency):
    • Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), input/ output devices, computer memory, memory organization, back- up devices, PORTs, Windows Explorer, Keyboard shortcuts.
    • Software: Windows Operating system including basics of Microsoft Office like MS word, MS Excel and Power Point etc..
    • Working with Internet and emails: Web Browsing & Searching, Downloading & Uploading, Managing an Email Account, e-Banking.
    • Basics of networking and cyber security: Networking devices and protocols, Network and information security threats (like hacking, virus, worms, Trojan etc.) and preventive measures.
  • For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability, there will be no component of Maps/ Graphs/ Diagrams/ Statistical Data in the Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning and General Intelligence modules.
