UGC announces increase in SC, OBC and Minorities Fellowship amount

UGC revised Fellowship amount for SC, OBC and Minorities – University Grants Commission has released an official notification on the website to inform regarding the increase in fellowship amount for SC, OBC and Minorities candidates. 

The fellowship amount awarded to SC, OBC, and minorities has been increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 31,000 per month for the first two years of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and from Rs 28,000 to Rs 35,000 per month for the remaining tenure Senior Research Fellowship (SRF). The notice also mention that the revised amount of fellowships is applicable with effect from January 1, 2019

“The HRA at the revised rate of 8%, 16%, and 24% is allowed as per Government of India norms as applicable in the city/location where the research fellow is pursuing research,” reads the notification

As per the notification, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, has announced an increase in the fellowship amount for the following 3 Fellowships –

In the month of June 2019 UGC had also revised the fellowship amount of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) in Science, Humanities and Social Sciences
