Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU) notifies Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (TN SET) 2024 for Assistant Professors
TN SET 2024 – Manonmaniam Sundaranar University invites online applications for Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (TNSET) 2024 for the recruitment of Assistant Professor at various University / Colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu. Government of Tamil Nadu has nominated Manonmaniam Sundaranar University as “Nodal Agency” to conduct State Eligibility Test (SET) on its behalf. The exam will be conducted in 43 subjects. TN SET 2024 Important Dates
- Online registration and submission of Application Form: 01st to 30th April 2024 (upto 05:00 pm)
- Last date for successful transaction of Exam Fee (through Credit Card/ Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI Payment Modes: 02 May 2024 (upto 11:50 pm)
- Correction in the Particulars of Application Form Online: 03 & 04 May 2024 (upto 11:50 pm)
- Intimation of Cities of exam centres: To be Intimated Later
- Downloading of Hall Ticket by the Candidate from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Web.: To be Intimated Later
- Dates of Examination: 03rd June to 25th June 2024 (Tentative)
- Duration of Examination: 180 minutes (03 hours) No break between Paper I & Paper II
- Timing of Examination: First Shift: 09.00 am to 12.00 pm; Second Shift: 02.00 pm to 05.00 pm

Eligibility Criteria for TN SET 2024
Age Limit
- There is no upper age limit for applying for TNSET 2024 examination
Educational Qualification
- All the candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC (available on the website: www.ugc.ac.in ) are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste(SC) / SC(A) /Scheduled Tribe (ST) /Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test
- Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC / SC(A) /ST/ PwD / Third gender category candidates).
- Such candidates must complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of TNSET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as ineligible.
- The Ph.D degree holders whose Master’s Level examination has been completed by 19 September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in TNSET.
- Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation only. The candidates, whose Post Graduation subject is not covered in the list of TNSET subjects may appear in the UGC-NET/joint CSIR-UGC Test.
- Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/Institute or foreign degree /diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi(ww.aiu.ac.in)
TN SET 2024 Application Process
- Candidate seeking admission to the Test (TNSET-2024) must apply online only on the website http://www.tnsetau.in/
- Candidates must read carefully the Instructions (including how to fill up Application Form online) given in the Information Bulletin available in the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Website. Candidates not complying with the Instructions shall be summarily disqualified.
- Candidates can apply for TNSET 2024 through “Online” mode only. The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted.

Follow the steps given below to Apply Online:
- Step-1: Apply for Online Registration using your own Email Id and Mobile No.
- Step-2: Fill in the Online Application Form and note down the system generated Application Number. Upload scanned images of:
- A recent passport size photo (file size 10Kb – 200Kb) in colour with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background;
- Candidate’s signature (file size: 4kb – 30kb)
- Step-3: Pay the examination fee using Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI and keep proof of fee paid.
- The Confirmation Page of the online Application Form will be generated only after successful payment by the Candidate

- Note : The Examination fee should be paid online via Debit card/Credit card / Net banking / UPI only. Examination Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
TN SET 2024 Exam Pattern
- Mode of Exam: Will be conducted through the Offline Mode (Pen Paper Based)
- Question Types: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) Format
- Marking Scheme: For each correct answer, +2 Marks will be allotted
- Negative Marking: There is no Negative Marking Scheme
- Exam Medium: Question Paper will be in English and Tamil Language
- Sessions: There will be a total of three sessions.
- Papers: There will be a total of 2 Papers
- Paper I [100 marks; 50 questions all are compulsory; Duration 1 Hr 20 Min. (09.30 am to 10.30 am)]
- Paper II [200 marks; 50 questions all are compulsory; Duration 2 Hrs 40 Min. (11.00 am to 01.40 pm)]
