The UGC NET 2024 exam date for June session has been announced released. UGC NET Exam Date 2024 for the June session is as follows

UGC NET Application Form 2024

The UGC NET 2024 application form is the first and most important step for candidates interested in taking this competitive examination in India. The application form is available on the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) official website. The UGC NET 2024 online Application Form for the June session will be released on 20th April 2024 and the applications close on 10th May 2024.

 

How to apply for UGC NET 2024? 

The following is the process by which a candidate can apply for the UGC NET 2024 Examination:-

 

Step 1: Apply for Online Registration by using your own email address and phone number.

Step 2: Complete the Online Application Form and write down the Application Number generated by the system. The following basic information needs to be filled by the applicant when filling out the UGC NET 2024 Application Form:

  • In capital characters, the candidate’s name, mother’s name, and father’s name as they appear on the Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent Board/University Certificate.
  • Date of Birth in the format DD/MM/YYYY as reported in the Secondary School Examination or equivalent Board/University certificate.
  • Candidates must provide their own Mobile Number and email address.
  • Subject Name in the Post Graduate Exam should also be filled by the candidate.

Step 3: Next, upload the scanned photos of: 

(i) a recent photograph (file size 10Kb – 200Kb) in color or black and white with 80% of the face (without mask) visible, including the ears, on a white background and; 

(ii) signature of the candidate (file size: 4kb – 30kb)

 

Step 4: Pay the fee via SBI/CANARA/ICICI/HDFC Bank/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI and save the evidence of payment.

 

All steps can be completed concurrently or sequentially. A candidate’s application will be regarded as successful and his/her candidature will be confirmed only after the successful transaction/receipt of the stipulated application fee from him/her.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2024

UGC NET 2024 eligibility criteria are fundamental qualifications that candidates must meet in order to sit for the exam. 1. General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates
  • General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC , Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. 
2. Other Backward Classes (OBC) 
  • The Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
3. Master’s Degree
  • Candidates pursuing a Master’s degree or those who have taken their qualifying Master’s degree exams may also apply for this test. 
  • However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and will be considered eligible for JRF/Assistant Professor only after passing their Master’s Degree. 
4. Third Gender Category 
  • Candidates from the Third Gender category are eligible for the same fee, age, and Eligibility Criteria for NET relaxations as candidates from the SC/ST/PwD categories. 
5. Ph.D. degree holders
  • Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination was completed by 19 September 1991 (regardless of date of result declaration) will be eligible for a 5% reduction in aggregate marks.
6. Post-Graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/ Foreign University
  • Candidates with a post-graduate diploma/certificate from an Indian University or a Foreign University should check with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, to see if their diploma/degree/certificate is equivalent to a Master’s degree from a recognised Indian university. 

 

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2024- Assistant Professor/ Junior Research Fellowship

 

  • The candidate’s eligibility for ‘Assistant Professor’ or ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ will be determined by their overall performance in both UGC NET 2024 examinations. Candidates who qualify solely for Assistant Professor will not be considered for the JRF award.

  • The minimum eligibility requirement for recruitment and employment of Assistant Professors at Universities/Colleges/Institutions would continue to be NET/SET/SLET. Exemption from NET/SET/SLET would be governed by UGC norms. 
2. UGC/CSIR/ JRF Examination
  • Candidates who passed the UGC/CSIR/JRF examination before 1989 are excused from taking the NET.
3. For SET Candidates
  • Candidates who passed the States Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC NET 2024 for Assistant Professor earlier to June 1, 2002, are exempt from taking the NET and are entitled to apply for Assistant Professor positions anywhere in India.
  • For SETs held after June 1, 2002, qualified applicants are only entitled to apply for Assistant Professor positions at universities/colleges in the state where they passed their SET.

 

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2024- Reservations 

The Reservation Policy of the Indian Government also extends to UGC-NET 2024. According to this policy, there will be seat reservations in Central Universities and Institutions that are recognized as universities. These reservations will be allocated as per the following guidelines:

UGC NET 2024- Age Relaxations 

The UGC NET 2024 provides the candidates with some age relaxations as mentioned in the table below. However it is to be noted that the following age relaxations are only applicable for the candidates applying for the JRF category.

UGC NET 2024 Eligibility Criteria: Certificates Required 

The following are some certificates required for the Eligibility verification when checking one’s eligibility and applying to the UGC NET 2024 exam:-

 

  • Candidates falling under the OBC (Non-creamy layer), SC, ST, or PWD categories are required to provide an attested copy of their category certificate along with a printed copy of their online application forms.
  • For individuals holding postgraduate degrees or diplomas from either Indian or foreign institutions, it is advisable to confirm the equivalence of their qualifications to Indian master’s degrees through the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
  • Essential documents include the Qualifying Degree Certificate or last semester marks sheet, Class 10th mark sheet, Category Certificate (if applicable), Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Certificate (if applicable), and Person with Disability (PwD) Certificate (if applicable).
  • Candidates are not mandated to provide Aadhaar numbers; alternative government identification numbers like passport, ration card, election card (EPIC No.), bank account number, or others are also acceptable.

 

UGC NET Exam Pattern 2024

The UGC NET 2024 exam format is an important part of the exam that applicants must comprehend. The UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) exam pattern consists of two papers:

  • Paper-I:

This is a general paper meant to assess teaching and research aptitude.It contains 50 multiple-choice questions, out of which candidates must answer 50. The duration of Paper-I is 1 hour (60 minutes). It carries a total of 100 marks.It will consist of topics from Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, Comprehension, Communication, Divergent Thinking, and General Awareness.

  • Paper-II:

Paper-II is based on the candidate’s chosen subject and assesses in-depth knowledge. It consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, and all questions are compulsory. When completing the application, candidates must choose from the 83 subjects offered for the UGC NET 2024 Paper 2 exam. It’s essential that candidates opt for the subject they studied at the post-graduate level. In cases where their postgraduate subject is not among the UGC NET 2024 subjects, they can select a related subject from the list.

The duration of Paper-II is 2 hours (120 minutes) and is a total of 200 marks.

Both papers are conducted in a single session with no break in between. The UGC NET 2024 exam aims to evaluate the candidates’ eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) positions in various Indian universities and colleges.

The medium of both the Question Papers shall be in English & Hindi only except the language papers. For each correct response the candidate is awarded with 2 marks and there is no negative marking for an incorrect answer or an unanswered question. 

In the event that a question in the UGC NET 2024 exam is identified as incorrect, unclear, or has multiple valid answers, only candidates who attempted the question and selected one of the correct answers will receive credit. If a question is declared incorrect and removed, those who attempted it will receive 2 marks.

UGC NET Answer Key 2024

The UGC NET Answer Key 2024 is expected to be released in June 2024 for the June session.
