FIR Full Form – FIR stands for First Information Report. It is a written document prepared by Police when they receive information about a cognizable offence. It is the starting point for an investigative process for a specific crime.
The cops can commence the investigation only after registration of the FIR. After registration, the content of the FIR cannot be altered except by a supreme court or high court decision. The process to file an FIR is Stated in Section 154 of the Act Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
An FIR (First Information Report) is the first step in protecting society from the crimes as it gives way to the actions of the police officials.
