PGIMER Chandigarh announces Entrance Examination for Fellowships and Postdoctoral Fellowships Program for January 2024 Session
PGIMER Fellowship and Postdoctoral Fellowship 2024 – Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh invites applications from interested candidates for admission to the Fellowship and Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program for the academic session beginning in January 2024. Admission to various Fellowship PGI/Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) conducted at the Institute is made twice a year. The admission to the above courses of the Institute is made on merit on an all India basis, by holding an entrance test by the Institute. Eligibility Criteria
- A candidate must have passed MD/MS from a University/ Institute recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
For Nursing fellowship (Pediatric Critical Care Nursing)
- Candidates must have B.Sc. or Post Basic with 1 year experience in Pediatrics or M.Sc. Pediatrics on or before 31st December/30th June for January and January session respectively.
For Nursing fellowship (Neonatal Nursing)
- Candidates must have B.Sc.Nursing/ Post Basic Nursing with 1 year clinical/teaching experience in Pediatric or M.Sc. Pediatric/Child Health Nursing on or before 31st December/30th June for January and January session respectively.
- Must have either completed, or due to complete, two years senior residency in the concerned department on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively
- Must be registered with Central /State Medical Registration Council or
- Must be a registered Nurse (R.N. & R.M.) or equivalent.
- Must be within the prescribed age limit as on 1st January/1st January for January / January session respectively as detail below:-
- General category: 45 years
- SC/ST candidates: 50 years
- OBC candidates: 48 years
- Ex-servicemen and Commissioned Officers including ECO, SSCO who have rendered or released on satisfactory assignment.: 50 years

For Fellowships Program
- Medical Parasitology/ Medical Parasitology: MD (Microbiology) or its equivalent from a University/ Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Brachytherapy / Radiotherapy: MD (Radiotherapy) or its equivalent from a University/ Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Apheresis Technology and Applications/ Blood Transfusion Medicine: MD (Transfusion Medicine / Pathology) or its equivalent from a University/ Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Pediatric Epilepsy/ Pediatrics: MD (Pediatrics) or its equivalent from a University/ Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Pediatric Urology/ Pediatric Surgery:Ch Pediatric Surgery/M.Ch Urology or its equivalent from a University/Institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Uveitis/ Ophthalmology: MD/MS/DNB Ophthalmology or equivalent qualification recognized by the MCI and must have completed 02 years Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Pediatric Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine (PREM)/ Pediatrics: MD Pediatric/ DNB Pediatrics and completed two years of Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Pediatric Diabetes/Pediatrics: MD Pediatrics or its equivalent degree from an University/Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years of Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Obstetric Anaesthesia and Intensive Care / Anaesthesia: MD Anaesthesia from a University/Institute duly recognized by MCI and completed two years of Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- PET Imaging/ Nuclear Medicine: MD (Nuclear Medicine) or its equivalent from a University/ Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years Senior Residency on or before on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- High Risk Pregnancy/ Obst. & Gynaecology: MS (Obst. & Gynaecology) or its equivalent from an University/ Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Pediatric Radiology / Radiodiagnosis: MD (Radiology) or its equivalent from a University/ Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Cytopathology/Cytology & Gynae Pathology: Must have completed MD/DNB (Pathology) from a university/institute recognized by the MCI on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Health Economics/Community Medicine & SPH: MD in Community Medicine from an University/Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years of Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively OR
- (MA in economics and Ph. D) OR (MPH and PhD in relevant specialty), and completed up to two years of Senior Demonstrator on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Environmental & Occupational Health/ Community Medicine & SPH: MD in Community Medicine from an University/Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years of Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively OR
- (MA/M.Sc in Environmental Science & PhD MPH and PhD and completed upto two years of Senior Demonstrator on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Glaucoma/Ophthalmology: MS (Ophthalmology) or its equivalent from an University/ Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years Senior Residency on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively
- For Post-Doctoral Fellowships
- Paediatric Neurosurgery/ Neurosurgery: Ch. (Neurosurgery) or its equivalent from an University/ Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed their degree on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Immunology & Molecular Lab Hematology/ Pediatrics: MD (Pathology) or its equivalent from a University/ Institute recognized by MCI and must have completed 02 years Senior Residency in the concerned specialty of Pathology on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Pediatric Cardiac Anaesthesia & Intensive Care/ Anaesthesia: For General candidate: DM (Cardiac Anaesthesia) or its equivalent from a University/ Institute recognized by MCI on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively. For sponsored candidates: Post M.D. Cardiac Anaesthesia.
For Nursing Fellowship
- Pediatric Critical Care Nursing/ National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE): Must be registered nurse (R.N. & R.M.) or equivalent. B.Sc. or Post Basic with 1 year experience in Pediatrics or M.Sc. Pediatrics on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.
- Neonatal Nursing/ National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE): Must be registered nurse (R.N. & R.M.) or equivalent. B.Sc. Nursing/Post Basic Nursing with one year clinical /teaching experience in pediatrics or M.Sc. Pediatric /Child Health Nursing on or before 31st December/30th June for January/January session respectively.

- Candidates should fill in the Online Application form correctly. Incorrect filled forms may lead to rejection.
- A candidate seeking admission to the Entrance Examination is required to submit his/her application in the prescribed format available online with the Prospectus on www.pgimer.edu.in.
- The cost of Application Form includes the fee for entrance examination which is non-refundable and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
- The candidate is required to go through the Prospectus carefully and acquaint himself/herself with all requirements with regard to filling the online application form.
